Sept 9th – Sort through any old drugs and dispose properly, do NOT flush them down the toilet, today.

If you live in Los Angeles, you can click on the link below to see proper disposal.  Basically, take to a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center or Event, drop off at a designated Sheriff’s station, or put them in a sturdy, securely sealed container where children and animals cannot reach them.  http://dpw.lacounty.gov/epd/nodrugs/index.cfm

National take-back initiative by the DEA is October 26th.  Today’s change is to really just remind you to never flush your drugs down the toilet into the water supply.

Nearly any article you read about our water supply talks about the increasing concern of pharmaceuticals in the water system.  While the FDA recommends some drugs should be disposed of in this manner (my head is still spinning that the FDA is still actually recommending this?????), please be kind and use an environmentally safe means of disposal.   As Oct. 26th approaches, I will send a reminder of how and where you can dispose of your drugs safely.
